Xianghuapu Mine, Hunan, China
6.6 x 4.8 x 2.6 cm.
A very unusual Fluorite specimen from a small new find at the Xianghuapu Mine in Hunan, China. It features a group of cubic Fluorite crystals that exhibit a frosty luster and mysterious dark phantoms within. Some of the cubes are either coated with or have altered to a white opaque mineral. The Fluorite fluoresces under both shortwave and longwave UV light but the phantoms do not, creating the unusual effect seen below. As the photos show there are lots of interesting details for you to explore all over.
