Quartz, Fluorite inclusions
Amborompotsy, Fianarantsoa Province, Madagascar
4.9 x 1.3 x 1.2 cm.
A very rare specimen from a one-time 2004 find in Madagascar. These first appeared at the Tucson show in 2005 – all crystals came from a single occurrence and there have been no more found. The find consisted of Quartz crystals containing unique inclusions of blue/purple Fluorite, mostly octahedral or octahedral with cubic modifications. Very few of the Quartz crystals had clear faces; most had a rather silky luster and it was difficult to see details of the inclusions clearly. This crystal has been polished to allow the remarkable Fluorites to “come to light” through the super-transparent Quartz.
